MCGILL FARMS
McGill Farms is a six-generation operation with deep roots in American agriculture. Established in 1732, the McGill ancestors laid the foundation for what would become a farming empire, originally working 750 acres dedicated to tobacco, cotton, and corn. Over the centuries, the farm has expanded into an 8,000-acre operation that includes a thriving cattle business and 1,000 acres of managed timberland. This growth reflects not only the family’s dedication, but also their ability to adapt to the changing agricultural landscape.
The McGill family’s legacy is rich with history, including a remarkable story from the late 1800s when a great-grandfather owned 200 oxen, renting them out for just $5 a year. This entrepreneurial spirit has carried through generations, leading to McGill Farms’ recognition in the cattle industry today. Their deep involvement in cow showing has earned them respect across the industry, and in 2024, McGill was honored at the ABBA Show in Perry, GA, as one of the longest-standing ABBA members on the East Coast. This acknowledgment highlights their unwavering commitment to breeding excellence and their lasting impact on the cattle business. Today, McGill Farms also maintains a feedlot with around 300 head, ensuring consistent quality and efficiency in their beef production.
